Need to shorten my search. Looking for a set of headers for a 5.0 in
my 54. It has a Toyota power steering conversion and I need the clearance. So far I'm coming up empty.....
"Happy New Year" to all.....
Surefoot.....
I may not have an exact answer to your problem, but I have found a really nice set of headers that solved a clearance problem on my '49 Merc (car) with a 5.0. Hedman makes a set of "replacement" headers for the f-series trucks in the late 80's and early 90's. These are designed to replace the cast iron manifolds that often cracked. They make a really nice looking set of "shorty" headers and have heavier than average flanges for better gasket sealing. Look under the hood of a late 80's Ford F-150. If the cast iron manifolds are the right shape for your application, these headers will also work.
Just a thought.

"Block-huggers" may work, if the Toyota PS box doesn't get in the way.
I have a '59 F100 with a Toyota PS box on my 302. I have Doug Thorley headers (full-length). They installed easily and clear the PS, frame, etc nicely and with no problems.
go on ebay and check out the 5.0 headers there. if you dont mind used ones theres a pretty good selection of them there.... thats where i got mine from

I've got short Sanderson bockhuggers in my '56. Toyota pwr steering clearance is very good. I have the side mount style motor mounts, not the tube style that runs all the way from one frame rail to the other. I did have a little clearance problem with the mount brackets, but was fixed with a small amount of grinding , mostly between headers and the block. Just something else to consider.
DO NOT BUY THE MUSTANG HEADERS!!! THEY DONT FIT AT ALL!! :-(
wasted my money in the beginning with those headers...USE the flowtech headers for a 302...works like a charm plus sounds great with some terminator mufflers!!!!!!!
Hey Guys,
Thanks for the info on the Headers. I currently have six sets of headers for the 302/5.0 and none will work out. Will be checking out the Flowtech and see if that will work. Center dump won't work as the engine cross member is the tube style. Does Summit handle the flowtech's??
Have a good one,
