Has anybody tried out a set of these? I saw them on a 302 carburated at a 4x4 motor shop in town then hunted down some on e-bay. They're about $160 US. Not cheap, eh?
When I emailed them they said it wouldn't fit the EFI model 302's because they are made taller to accommodate roller rockers. But if I added one of these TBS's it should add enough room under the plenum for it...Right?
So I was wondering if any of you guys out there in FORD land have tried this?
Thanks.
Woodler
I don't see how adding a TBS would increase the height of the plenum - surely you need an intake/ plenum spacer? (same pricipal but fits horizontaly between the plenum and intake manifold).
The height of the valve covers isn't a problem, I've used the powered by Ford valve covers used on early GT Mustangs 82-85 on my Bronco with no height problems. Their the same valve covers with different lettering. If you use the Bronco valve covers do not use the steel valve covers gaskets used on later Bronco's they will not seal on the non efi valve covers. I leaned it the hard way, use rubber or cork gaskets. You will also have to use a oil filler cap that will allow you to hook up the pvc hose used on your current valve covers. The oil filer cap I used I bought from Virginia Mustang.

The problem I encountered was the raised height. It causes the PCV to be too close to the intake, so it doesn't seal right. I wouldn't reccomend this. I would say take the stock ones off and paint them if you don't like ford gray. I painted a set ford blue once. Look like a new engine
Thanks Mucky - was thinking of the Chev application, it lifts the TBI up about an inch but on the 302 EFI it will just push it out. So yeah, I was thinking of a upper intake/plenum spacer.
bronco graveyard carries those valve covers but i don't know if they carry them for an efi motor, you could check. I'm going to get a set for my 79 bronco
BTW I really wish they sold these for EFI broncos. If anyone knows where I can get a plenum spacer I think it would be worth it to install for the valve covers. They are really bad ***.

down in tucson we used to call that a mexican overhaul
Well. I think it cleans your engine bay up a lot. I have a BMW that I painted the valve cover, intake manifod, and oil pan on and it looks great. I also painted the lettering and raised pieces. looks much better. Here it is before
That made a huge difference, thats for sure. I thought I had done a good job cleaning up under the hood of my 95 bronco xlt till I saw the pic of your beemer
I plan to do this with my Bronco once I get the transmission rebuilt. I'd like to get those bronco valve covers though and make the color scheme that black and silver. I think it would look really good.
Ok, we can't find a plenum spacer. Who thinks a machine shop could make something like this? I think my machine shop could do it. I should go ask them. I will use two plenum gaskets to seal it all up and have room for the valve covers. It'll be great! Well I'm gonna think on this. Later
I never had a problem with clearence for my PVC valve on my 5.0, I don't know about a 5.8 . If you have a 5.0 Trick Flow makes a plenum spacer for 5.0's in 3/8" and 1" thick. Summit Racing carries the spacers they're in the Mustang section of their catalog.http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

See the problem seems to be that the I have the 5.8. We tried installing a raised set of edelbrocks on a 5.8, and we had clearance problems with the intake manifold and PCV. We used the factory PCV hose and it works, but doesn't seal as well as I would like.
