im 17 and im looking to purchase another ford truck. i hav around 2500-3000 toplay around with. if i need a few hundred mroe it iant a big deal.
what kind of truck to do think is bets for the winter city, summer highway and everything in between. which era's and which enignes, and what size, like rangers or f150's? im looking for respectable gas milage, some power to move, perhaps supercab
Do you want specifically another pickup, or are you interested at all in SUV's? Broncos of all ages are a lot of fun, as are BII's. I had an '85 BII w/2.8 v-6 and averaged 18-20 mpg from the day I bought it (50,000 miles) to the day i sold it (130,000 miles). Explorers can be nice, too. I guess the question is are you gonna haul people or stuff or some of both. I just saw a "grannys" Explorer with low miles, about a '92 sell for $3000 American. It seems like there are alot of choices out there in the 2000-3000 range, just depends on how patient a shopper you are. Personnaly, for cruising, ect, I like the idea of a mid-size 4x4 SUV for year-round use, plus you always have the truck to haul big stuff with. You will have decent mileage, 4x4 for icy roads in the winter and most have AC to keep you cool in the summer. Extra cab trucks have these things too, just something else to think about.
more for driving family in the winter around. for hauling certain things i will use my 78. im looking for something i can fit into parkads and something small for rush hour/prkinglot/ city driving. with this i will be as patient as possible
So, a 4-door explorer is probably just what you need. With a Bronco II or an extra-cab Ranger, 4 people is very tight. With a full size Bronco, 4 people is comfortable, but its not that easy getting in the back, unless you have young bones and joints. Although, a big Bronco with a 300 I-6 would be very easy for you to maintain, since your current truck has the same (very nice, by the way, just checked out your site!) My next suggestion would be to test drive as many different vehicles as you can. When you have time, go to a used car lot, walk in like you own the place and take a test drive. Sit in ALL of the seats, so you get an idea what your paasengers might think. This will help you figure out what you like and what will best suit your needs.
