Hi all, I have a DRW that needs a bed. I have been having a hard time finding a used bed in any condition. Does anyone know what the difference is between the DRW and SRW bed, beside the wheel flares? Thanks D
They are the same except for the wheel wells are cut out and the fenders are added. I watched a box side being installed on one at a friends body shop. So if your fenders are good just get a standard box and you can see how to cut them out when you remove your fenders.
if you want an entire bed, i would see if there is an aftermarket body company like voltz, reading, and so on, have any of the beds that are removed for the install of the new utility body. there is a company about 15 minutes from my house that has about 5-6 of the ford, and chevy beds sitting in their lot for sale. they are all from brand new trucks.
i am about 30 miles northeast of philadelphia pa. next time i drive past the body company, i'll stop in and ask them how much they are asking for a complete bed. i have a feeling they are going for about $1500. including the tailgate.

If you can get on for that with a tailgate jump on it, that would be a steal. If you don't believe my go price a tailgate alone.
rvpuller, its not for me, i have an excursion. i just thought i would see how much the ones they have are selling for. as i said before, they are mostly from brand new trucks that come from the dealers with beds and then they put the aftermarket bodies on them. they have so many and do a ton of trucks so thats why they have them so cheap. they get them for free and dont want to have them around for so long.
Thanks guys for the help. I'm located close to Syracuse, NY. All the local places range from $1200 to $1800, but they don't have any. If you guys see something with in a few houndred miles, keep me in mind and PM me.
I'm kicking myself because a month ago there was a bed with one fender scuffed up and needed tail lights for $300. I'll never find that again. I've been looking at SRW beds but all i find are ones with the gas tank filler in front of the axle. Does anyone now the year that I should look for, that will match the body style? The reason I ask is there was one guy with a complete bed off a 97 f150 and he swaers that it would fit and matched, but offered no refund if there were problems.
as long as you have a "super duty" bed it will work. 99-07 will do it. the gas tank door will not matter if you get a srw bed because you will cover it with the fenders anyway.
hey jake, sorry, already talked about that in my other posts. thats where my local guy has a bunch of them sitting around complete with lights, tailgate and all.
I finally found a bed about a month ago. I drove 6 hours to get it with the flat bed. Well Saturday I went to put it on and if I center the wheels up in the wheel wells there is a 6" gap between the cab and box and 4" of the frame hangs out the back. Also where the holes in the box are to mount to the frame do not line up, it is like the frame is too narrow. This box came of a 1999 f250 4x4 DRW. Mine is f350 2x4 DRW. I thought the boxes were all the same for SD.
Sounds like the box/bed you have is from a short bed, and yours must be a long bed. Could that be the problem?
It is an 8' box (I measure about 50 times so far). do they make a longer box? a 9' box looks like it would fix, but I have never heard of one before. D.
