Exclamation 72 aussie f truck

Help. I have a 72 cab that I want to fit to a 78 chassis. I need some info on wiring the "sports style" dash (mainly the ammeter). I am also after some parts, so if anyone knows where in Australia I can find some bits, please let me know.

G'day to a fellow Aussie...
Where do you live?
There are some good places in Queensland if you live anywhere near there, or there are couple of wreckers in Melbourne I know of...
Check out the yellow pages

Well your best bet would be a Melbourne wreckers.
Bit unfortunate that you live in Tassie, where in Tassie?
I used to live near Burnie...

G'day donracing69,
Where did you find your "sports style" dash?
I was thinking of building a new instrument cluster with aftermarket gauges as I havn't been able to find a factory full instrument dash to suit my '79.
Would rather buy a cluster than build one as I have several other projects on the go.

Sorry to reply to a pretty well dead post but the full instrument dash froma TC or TD Cortina slots straight into the 75-79 dash, just need to recalibrate the tacho for the V8(if you have one) and run the appropriate wires and change the senders to suit, did the whole conversion for $120 into a 78 F100 but it was a six so didn't need the tacho recal, this would cost $50 or so from aninstrument specialist.

If anyone needs any parts I have them. I'm located in Melbourne and will post them across Australia. Parts are to suit f100-f350 from 1973-1979. Good doors , bonnets, XLT trim , lights , dash inserts and clusters etc. I'm not a wrecker I'm an enthusias. Call 0401 570 341 or (03) 9337 8778

Thumbs up

G'day you blokes.
Yep....I agree. The Cortina TD type tacho gauge cluster is a bolt in deal. The Tacho function has a "trim pot" so all you have to do is turn it one way or the other to calibrate it against a known good tacho. Simple as that.

The only problem I found with the Cortina Gauge cluster is some of the warning lights don't match the original F100-350 cluster. Also you need to run an extra wire for the tacho. Don't forget to use the Cortina type Oil Pressure sensor as the regular Ford F series type didn't work in our '75 F100.

Cheers.........Barry.
