butterfly valve
i have heard of a couple people wiring a switch to there butterfly valve and using it as a exhaust brake, now my question is how do you do it and is it a good idea. i have a 97 f250 powerstroke lifted 4in on 35's, 6postion ts preformance chip, aftermarket down pipe, straight piped 4in. its a 4 door sort bed, with a 97 f350 straight axle swap?

Been there done that, wasn't impressed.
If you have an automatic you MUST also wire in the tc to lock when you activate the brake. And actually, most of the benefit of this is from the tc locking and not the valve.
An actual exhaust brake works 1000 times better. If it's something you want to try, go for it. Not real expensive and fun to figure out, but don't expect much from it.
