I am looking at 66 4wd with a blown 390. is it possibble to use the same tranny with my little 292? or can I switch trannies and bolt the transfer case to my 64's.

1k, most likely the engine is a 352, that would have come in that truck.

No the tranny wont bolt up as is.

In the still cool hours of the night, you can hear chevys rusting away.

Does your truck have a divorsed T-case (it does if it is original to the truck)? If so, you can put any motor/tranny combo in front of it you wish with the correct mounts and a custom drive shaft between the tranny and t-case. That is about the only good thing about a divorced t-case IMHO.
