Advice on restoration parts for 57 f100

I've been checking online and the prices vary drastically from place to place. I've seen as much as a 20 dollar difference in mirrors alone. The main things I'm looking for is mirrors (all 3) and wiper arms. There's a lot of little stuff I need, so I'll be scouring swap meets and keeping my eyes out for people parting out vehicles, but I figure working wipers and mirrors are high priority stuff for a daily driver, even though I live in so cal where people don't use blinkers or use their mirrors, I'd still like to have them anyway. The wipers are just for looks

So whats the deal with parts sources here, is it best to check all of the places on each piece or is there a happy middle ground of good quality stuff at reasonable prices? I have checking with the sponsors BTW.

Basically, yes. You have to compare prices. The stuff you need is carried by lots of folks.

I have had good luck using John's F-Fun Hundreds in Anaheim, CA. They are usually competitively priced, know what they are talking about and give good service. 1-800-563-3151.

Price is important to all of us, but you can not go by price alone. A part that may be $12 through NAPA might be the exact same thing the specility house is offering for $30.

Yet I have what I though was a good quality set of low-mount mirrors on my 72 - and I just noticed that they were showing rust and the chrome was flaking off after a few years - they came from Pep-Boys. The factory low-mount mirrors on my 85 van still look like new, even after 20 years of weather.

You just got to shop around and use judgement. But that is part of the fun!

I've had good luck with Carpenter (www.dennis-carpenter.com), Obsolete and Classic Auto Parts (www.classicautoparts.com) and LMC Truck (www.LMCtruck.com). There are plenty of places to buy out there, you just have to compare. Also check out their shipping...Carpenter is relatively reasonable, LMC a little more expensive. Sometimes the part is cheaper one place, but after you add the shipping charges, the other place was a better deal. Good luck. By the way where in So Cal are you?
