How does the outside temperature affect the check valves? You would think it would be a constant problem.

No, the tanks don't fill off each other, but my forward tank has a bad fuel pump so it isn't used. I only use the rear tank. How hard is it to remove the tank and install a new pump? does the bed have to come off?

mikemustang289 never said anything about the outside temperature, he said after it sat overnight it would not startup until it cranked for awhile.

Then it sounds like the rear tank has the bad check valve.
No but most say it is a lot easier to take the bed off than to try and drop a tank.

If you want check to see if the check valves are bad, put a fuel pressure gauge on the fuel manifold, turn on the key, ground pin #6 of the test (DLC) connector.
At this point the gauge should read 45 psi for an 8 and 55 psi for a 6 with the engine not running.
Un-ground pin#6 while looking at the gauge and see how long it holds pressure.
It should hold for a moment and then drop very slowly, if it drops fast you have a bad check valve.
