its allready cracked,so not worried about removal.im more concerned about putting new in straight the first try.heard once windshield touches glue seal thats it ,shes stuck.
It's a real common windshield. Call your local auto glass shop for an estimate. You might be surprised. I just had one put in my '83 for less than $150. New glass, lifetime warranty against leaks, and I didn't have to mess with the chrome trim or anything.
Well, getting it out still is an issue, the factory sel is hard to get cut sometimes. When I put mine in, I didn't get the seal, just used windsheild sealant, basically silicone, and I'm not real pleased about it, probably will end up having to do it again. Cost 85 to do it myself, I agree, check out the glass shops and see. (bought windsheild used, they broke 3 before getting one out...)

There's too much to go wrong for me to try something like that myself. I paid $180 1.5 years ago to get one put in my F-250. I tried one of those DIY chip repair kits one time, and turned the chip into a 12" crack. I don't play with glass anymore.
To do it right , it will take a min of 3 people, useing music wire to cut the seal, remove all the excess old material, clean up, reseal and tack the window in then replace the brackets along with the window frame trim...I watched them do it (Body/Glass Repair Shop) and it was no easy task for one person to do by themselves correctly and NOT break or crack it and get it to not leak. It does have to cure 24 hours before water is supposed to be introduced to it...good luck if you try it.
My windshield cost 215.00 but I was watching them too....
I believe a a trickle of rainwater from under my dash may be caused by a windshield leak. My windshield was professionally installed in '95. However, I would like to visually inspect the perimeter seal that is concealed by the trim. I would be looking for a failed seal or a possible rust through.
You need a tool to get back into the clip that holds the trim, it looks like an arrow, the points get behind the clip and pull it out so the trim can come up.
The windshield and seal may not be leaking itself.
Look around where the roof of the cab connects to the pillar, the automotive caulking may have cracked and is allowing moisture and water through the "join". A very comon problem for the 1980 to 96 f-series.
A glass shop can fix this problem as well, and it's easier to ask them to inspect the "Joins" and have them filled with auto claulk, if needed with the windshield out of the truck.
