Spring Pins F1

Yes I said it the spring pins that hold the rear springs in. How do you remove them?
I have the rear ones out and the front pins up by the cross member wont budge.
I have the bolts/locking pins out.
I even rigged up a fitting with a slide hammer and cant get them out.
These arent in my truck but some scrap I saved from a junker to salvage a few springs.

As they say down in here in New Mexico..."heat it with a torch then heat it with a hammer"

On my 49 I used a chunk of 1/2" round bar as a punch and drove them out from the back side. For the rear shackles there is a hole in the frame for the punch. The front shackles are located behind a crossmember in the frame. Sometimes there is a hole in the crossmember and the frame sometimes there isn't, in my case there was a hole in the frame but no the x-member however, the previous owner had smoked a hole in the crosmember and I was able to use my punch to drive them out.

Good luck
Bobby

If your pins are like all the rest after 50+ years they likely have shoulders worn into them that are catching on the shackle. With a jack and jackstands you can get them to slop around enough to get them out. Most of the time.
