I have a 2005 (SEP04 build date) f-250 6.0 with auto trans, and after reading about EGR's all day, i think i want to unhook mine. How do i know if the EGR valve is open or closed before i unplug it? I also have a Hypertech III programmer will an EGR unhooked mess with how the programmer works? Thanks

 

From my understanding, and the way I did it, you need to unplug it when the truck is off. I did mine one morning before I ever started it up. Only took a couple of minutes. As for the programmer, it should have no effect on that whatsoever. I have a Juice in mine currently.
