F100 Axle seal leak

Guys I have replaced a couple of axle seals on one side of my 66 and it continues to leak. Everything seems to be clean, but I may be missing something.

Any suggestions on stopping this problem, brake shoes get expensive after a while.

John, have you checked to see if the axle housing vent is clear and breathing well? Most axle seal leaks can be fixed by simply unclogging the vent.

Nathan, U da MAN!! I looked at the hose carefully and it seemed to be OK, but I says to mysself, self cut that hose off at the metal and take a look, you can always stick it right back on. Man 35 years of crud stopped up as thight as a banjo string. I finally had to take the smallest drill bit in my case and twist it through (by hand)to make a hole again.

I went back to the brake drum, sprayed everything down with carb cleaner, including the new shoes, and put it together again, hoping to stop that grabbing.

I'll take it out tomorrow on a test run, it was raining tonight, and there wasn't any big reason to take it out to see how much dirt I could add to it.

Come to Carlisle and have a cold one on me.
