Tired of mail order outlet's shipping charges

This doesnt have too much to do with Y's. This morning I was ordering a book "How to choose camshafts", and a valve cover breather from Speedway. Cost of items came to $29, and ground shipping would be $11.67.
Having shipped quite a few items I know that their shipping charge is being treated like another revenue center. Pissed off I deleted the order. I'm just tired of the gouging.
Now that is finished, the valve cover breather is shielded, clamp on, for 1 3/8 in. outlet/inlet. It is supposed to fit the Y valley oil fill tube. Moroso makes one, are there others than Moroso?

Revenue center?? I think not unless they are using illegal aliens in the shipping dept.
A company prices its product to reflect a profit, shipping costs excluded. S&H is determined by the cost of running the shipping dept and a $10 order costs as much overhead as a $1000 order. Many companies have a minimum order of $100 as the $10 order is a pain in the butt time waster anyway.

So quit the crying and either save up for larger orders or get creative.

BTW, it costs $6.05 to send a 1-2# package Priority Mail to the West Coast for me and up to $12 for a 3# UPS box to the same area for some real boondock Zip Codes. I add a few $ for materials cost and time and if the customer whines then IM THE ONE who cancels the order; I dont need a'holes annoying me, dealing with the retail public can be a royal PITA at times!

I ordered a different book, more pages (larger), cost of book was $1 more, and shipping worked to $3.92, from NJ to OR.
Ordered the Moroso breather from local parts house. No shipping, except what is built into price of breather. At least it is from an American company, maybe.
No crying here.

Back when Warshawsky and JCWhitney were both in operation, prior to bankruptcy, you actually added the shipping weight of each item to figure shipping cost. Today, the cost is some percent of your order cost, with a minimum of several dollard (don't remember). I haven't bought from them in years because I don't think that is reasonable.

Never had a problem. If I dont like the shipping costs at one place, I shop around.

I put the Moroso breather on today, and it looks great! It will also work a bunch better than the crummy, ill fitting little two finger push in breather which was ajar after each outing. The Moroso part number is 68811.

46, are you building crankcase pressure for some reason? Those crummy little push in jobs usually worked fairly well unless something was wrong.

I know what you mean about the shipping charges. I just shop around until I find reasonable shipping costs. When one person wants $10 to ship and another one wants $3.52 to ship from nearly the same area guess which one has another revenue center...

I see the same revenue center stuff on eBay. Those shipping calculators on eBay must have a built in way for the seller to pad the shipping charges also.

I just consider the shipping to be part of the total cost of acquisition and go for the lowest price delivered.

That is a good question, but there is no other reason to think the pressure is building. After almost every drive the push in would be cocked. Couldnt be sealing very well. There is no blow by at all coming from the vent. PCV is in use, no unusual oil leaks spurting out. After turning motor off there is a faint amount of barely visible smoke(?) that slowly migrates out of the vent.

That sounds absolutely normal then. Is the cap plugged? Those things had a habit of doing that just from a buildup of carbon and gunk.

Of course PCV valves wear out and don't vent right also...

The old cap isnt even dirty on the inside. I have been running without the hood on, and the wind could have been blowing the push in cap enough to move it off of normal position.

Check the PCV anyway. Replace it if it is not new. Just because they rattle does not mean they are any good. The valve and spring inside wears out fairly quickly.
