Tire Size?

What is the tallest tire you can fit on an 87 F150 4x4? 31? 33? 35?

No lift? 31's but they will rub the radius arms.

They will rub on the stock wheels. You probably have more backspacing than the factory wheels.

I guess looks can be decieving because it sure does look like I could fit at least 33's at stock ride height.

Probably, but the first time you flex the suspension at all, they will hit something.

I don't think you should get a body lift at all. If you want to lift it, do it right, with a suspension lift. If you want 33's, get a 4" lift. 6" will let you clear 35's, but I believe you will have to space the front bumper out a bit.

Well I don't have a stock bumber. Its an aftermarket bumber for mounting a winch.

I've 6" of Rancho lift and 35" Baja M/T's. I could go with 38" but there's a chance under flex/load they'd still rub and it's just not worth the chance.

Also, be sure to consider stopping effort and distance as well. Bigger tires = more stress on stock rotors/drums, etc. I know w/ my set up, I notice a diff on stopping.

31's rubbed on the passenger side radius arm only at full lock on both my F150s.. an '89 and a '90. I also have 265's on the factory wheels which are slightly taller than 31's on 8" aftermarket wheels, and they exhibit the same issue.. which is minor a best.
I don't think I could stand driving it with larger tires though, I really noticed the change in acceleration, so I can't see going to 33's or 35's without 4:10 gears.

?

What size engine do you have? That would be my question. Transmission is another issue. If you have an auto I would recomend that you change your diff gears before going too large with your tires. I had a friend that put 35's on his truck and didn't change his gears, and about 3days later his trans went. Wore out the cluches and bands because there was so much slippage. Just my opinion. I think 31's would be ok. -Jake
