Snow Ice & Window Wipes?

OK, I have 2 winter problems maybe you all can help me with. I would like thank thank you for suggesting to move to Arizona but I can't, I am stuck in DC area.

I have a 97 F350 7.3L

1st: Snow and ice builds up on the windshield wipers! Is there a defrost deflector or something to divert the defrost to the wipers? (the wipers sit lower then the defrost hits the windshield). I tried to move the wipers higher but then they hit the body of the truck. Or is there an after market electric defrost strip I can put on the windshield at wiper highth?

2nd: If I start my truck and let run for 30 minutes in the morning (wich my neighbors love at zero dark 30) I still have no heat. I have no heat untill 2+ miles down the road.

Any fix for these?

Thanks!

when it gets cold we just run a 10 gauge extension cord to the helicopter and plug in a ceramic heater (use caution of burning or melting your interior) the heater keeps the ice and frost from forming.

hey just plug in your truck at night and leave the defrost in the on position. your lower section of windshild will stay defrosted and your truck will blow warm air when you start it.

And you have found that a Diesel idling will not reach operating temp. I can leave mine running all day in 100+ degrees and it won't heat up.

Hay like 1997f-350, said just plug it in. The block heater will warm the water enough to get some warm air throught the vents. I only plug my truck in for about 3hr's and it seams to warm the water. and makes starting very easy. Good luck.

I plug my truck in at night but never had heat for about 2+ miles....I thought it was an oil heater....Is it a water too?

Any tips to keep the snow and ice off the wiper blades while driving?...It seems to accumulate quickly and I have to get out smack em against the windshield to clean them.

careful with the hitting the windshield bit, i cracked the window last time i did that . once the snow starts rolling in (late nov here in CT), i switch to winter wipers with the shrouds around the arms. seems to help keep the accumulation down. you could also try wrapping plastic bags around them if you are leaving the truck outside for an extended period of time during snow, just remember to take em off!

Winter blades!....good idea! Hmmmm, I wonder if I can find new arms that raise up and hold so the blades don't get snowed in?
Thanks!
