Hi, the auto tranny in my 87 4x4 diesel f250 is having a problem. The door sticker says it is tranny code K, which I was told is a C6, but can not verify. I can't find the code on the case. Anyway, the problem I am having is that it will hesitate getting out of first and then will slam into second. I can seem to lesson the problem by accelerating just right, but sometimes it is unavoidable. It makes the truck jerk and on the ocassional really bad time it seems like it is getting rammed from behind.
If I let the truck sit for longer than a week then it will sometimes not want to get out of first until I have taken it for a long drive. Then it will go back to working normal (but still jerking into 2nd).
Is it time for a rebuild?
Can the bands be adjusted to help this, or at least procrastinate the rebuild?
Is having the bands adjusted at a shop different than adjusting the intermediate band adjustment myself?
Thanks,
Kyle
