HT32BSX115 - sorry to dig up this old post - but did you ever find a 5 speed to bolt up to your 292 F600. If so - what model transmission did you get, what was the donor vehicle and what did you have to do to get it to fit???? thanks
I sold that ZF trans I got from Craigslist and ended up with that E4OD. My friend up the street just gave it to me. Since it had the 7.3L bell on it I had another friend who rebuilds auto transmissions for a living find me an SBF housing and he built (completely)me an E4OD, complete with a tail-mounted Ford E-brake (Superduty) unit.
I think someone does make an adapter to bolt a ZF to a Y-block and maybe the one above would work with some mods but I didn't ask.
The ZF would be an excellent choice in a F-600 but you still would need the tail mounted E-brake or some other E-brake since there's no way to do it on the wheel brakes.
