I have a great tech at Foothill Ford in Pilot Mountain, NC Whenever I come in, he wants to know what I have read here lately about my truck, especially if there is a problem. If he leaves, I am following him. And, thanks to the techs who chime in here. When the former service "advisor" realized he was on the bottom end of the learning curve on the PSD, he would just put the tech and I together.
Thank you for all your input and great advise and for putting up with us Ford owners who at times get a little frustrated........ Yes even me!!!!!!!!!!!!
If I'm included in the salute, you're welcome! And I'd like to return the thanks for helping me go to work everyday armed with the feeling that "I've heard of that problem"!

I just like to say that since I discovered this site on the internet I've learned more on this site than at my dealer. You guy's are excellent and I definitely want to respond to this thread in just giving my thanks to all the talented guys on this site. HIP, HIP, HOORAY
The best way to reward your tech after a day of skinned knuckles, burned forearms, poor pay, is a pat on the back, handshake, and a thankyou. We are all humbled, thank you!
My hats off to our resident technicians. Knowledge will help both the consumer and technician. I'm not sure if I can trust the Canadian though.....just kidding CanadaGuy.....

BowTieHatr, CanadaGuy, and vloney are the Technicians I had in mind. I thought Maximum 4X4 was also a Tech? Anyway, Thanks to all for the great info!

Let me introduce myself.....I know enough to be dangerous since I bought into the ground floor plan with an early 03 build. As much as I try to help from my own experiences you still have to have a good technician to talk with.
I will leave the proper way to fix problems to the technitions......
On two occasions I wrote a letter to the Service Manager complimenting my Service Advisor and my tech (seperate letters for each). I ask that my letter be shared with them and a copy be placed in their file as a personal reference of a job well done.
As you could imagine, it made the day of the Service Writer and tech and they both will bend over backwards to help me... and it cost me nothing except the time to write a letter for each!!!
When I pull up for service, the writer already knows that I want only a certain tech.... and I like it that way!!!!
As my dad once said... you will catch more flies with honey than vinegar and a simple thank you and a smile will get you further than anything else in life!!!! I like to speak to my diesel tech and I actually think he likes talking to me about my motor and his thoughts, opinions and experiences with the motor... as it makes him feel "wanted"!!!
One time, I even tippped him $20.00 bucks for greasing my ball joints (I change my own oil) and for letting me watch him work on my truck (the tip was for putting up with me).
I have a very good friend who happens to be the lead diesel guy at my favorite Ford dealer, and he has schooled me bigtime over the last 3 years, it never seems to end with the 6.0's. However, there have been many times I have gathered great info from the above mentioned techs, so many thanks guys! I too (like Maxium) have a fairly early '03 build and have pretty much been all over this thing. I also happen to be very friendly with the owner, a service writer, and one of the wholesale parts guys at my favorite dealer, so I pretty much have the run of the place. (diagnostic hardware is way cool!) It pays to be cool to everyone, it always come back to you.
Hey Jeff I missed your post somehow, I must have been away from the computer. I always think about what my Dad used to say, I think he taught me more about how to treat people by the time I was 6 than I have learned in the 36 years since. It is amazing what kind of response you receive from being cool to people, and kicking them a 20 for lunch never hurts!!
