'63 F-100 Front Wheel Cylinders

Where can I get new front cylinders for my '63? All I can get is rebuild kits and the cyl. is beyond help... This one is the single piston type and no one seems to have these. I can hardly drive the truck as it is, due to the wheel nearly being snatched outta my hand when I apply the brakes. Any help with this would be appreciated..

Try Kanter Automotive Online. They may have them since they specialize in brake and suspension parts for old cars and trucks.

You may want to consider having the cylinder relined at a machine shop. They will basically bore out the cylinder and resleeve it. Cut down on having to buy a new one or find that the one you bought to replace it with is bad also. I did it with my '60 on the wheel cylinders and slave cylinder. Just a thought.

I had the single cylinder brake pistons on my 62. I spent 3 months trying to track new/rebuilt units down using the casting numbers and finally gave up. The dual piston units for a 64 fit perfectly, just had to find two more connecting rods between the piston and the shoes. In the manual there is no difference between the brake setup aside from that single piston unit. I found mine at AutoZone. You have to be carefull though... The newer castings sometimes have metric bleeder screws. Makes it a pain to bleed your brakes when you have to use 2 different wrenches.
