Buying an ex-taxi
As some of you know, my sister is having constant problems with her 2001 Chevy van with 250,000 miles on it. We have found a 2000 Lincoln Town Car Executive L(6 inch stretch) that was an airport taxi. It is black on black, has 35% tint and runs on gas/propane. As far as we know, it needs right rear door hinges and a steering wheel cover. The driver's seat and armrest are quite worn, but still in decent shape. Not sure how many kilometers are on the Lincoln but it should last another 50k or so, right?

Most taxis are used quite hard, but you may have one there that was used for "sedan" or limo service. if so, then the drivers were probably paid to drive more gently so as to not spill the customers coffees etc. IF it's one of those cars, you may have a good buy. IF NOT, it is a toss-up. If I had to buy and ex -taxi, a lincoln would be my first choice though.
The parts on those are relatively cheap if you do need some. And a new drivers seat shouldn't be too ahrd to find at the wreckers.

I wouldnt buy it, A very good freind of mine is a limo / sedan driver. Those cars take a worse beating than regular taxi's. He's seen towncars that should be totaled, rebuilt hastily by a bodyshop cause a downed car = lost income.
I'd think a used cop car is a better gamble
Aftter reading the post above mine : While my buddy "never spilled any coffee" .... When there were no passengers in the car its a completely different story, he'd drop someone off, then have to get back to the airport (ord)empty (to pick someone else up) He doesnt make money when no one is in the car, So he minimized those times by SPEEDING.
