new guy with turbo ranger

Years and years ago I sometimes had to adjust valves at the track between heats. I had a set of small block chevy covers I had cut up so I could get to the valves and adjusters but still covered most oil supply holes. The worked pretty good and I sold several to fellow racers. Then someone came out with a set of clips that blocked the oil spurts. You really can feel a loose valve. Anyway, just an old goat rambeling..

what about the cam bearings? Sure its not a small exhuast leak between the the head and the DP? Ive heard some funky sounding exhuast leaks that sounded like lifter noise. Another suggestion: I had an 88 mazda mx6 (steal of a deal, couldnt pass it up, traded it for a stang) they 2.2L had HLA's, hydraulic lash adjusters. These were known for clogging up and not taking up the slack in the valvetrain, which would cause one hell of a racket. I dont know much about them, other than they were a problem...Im a pushrod kinda guy..but maybe its something I mentioned, at least you can check if you havent.
oh and BTW....stock vs stock, the 4.0L might be ahead, if its lucky, untill the 2.3L turbo hits 3rd.
p.s. turbo ranger guy, have you seen this site? http://www.projecthp.ford23.com/ the guy is a member at stangnet.com in the 2.3L section, he has developed alot of 2.3L parts, DP's, header, intake, and other doo-dads.

2.5L crank
Crower rods.
Wiesco pistons.
Large valve head fully ported.
Head studs
Main studs
Total seal rings.
1035HG
2277 ESLINGER roller cam.
60lb injectors
90mm MAF.
Plan to upgrade to. c4 with 3k stall street-fighter converter.
I have the tranny just need to drop it in after the stock 5spd blows.
LARGE HYBRID TURBO or HOLSET hx40 will be used. I have a few holsets and some hybrids laying around not sure if any are good for the 500+ mark.
I am hoping for 400+ RWHP. With some IC upgrades and larger injectors 500+ I hope to run next race season in the 10's I will try to make a few of the fun ford weekends.
It will be a full winter's work to building the chassis.
