what's up everyone.
I recently bought a 66 f100, and i was hoping i could get a few questions answered for me. first of all, on the warrenty plate it states the color as J, what is that? i would also like to know of any recommended sites, or places to get parts from? And finaly where is a good place to look for the bed. i need a completely new bed, because the one that is on there is the wrong one. i think it may have come off an 80 f100. oh, and in case this helps, it's 2wd, 260 straight six, and i think 3 speed on the floor. thanks,
Eric
Eric, Welcome! Stay with us few weeks and you will know more about these wonderful old trucks than you ever imagined. Learn how to move around on this site, search archives and such. This is absolutely the premiere site for Ford Trucks. Can you post a picture of your Truck? I'd like to see how that bed fits. The floor on my bed is rusted pretty bad and I will need to replace it before long. Once again Welcome!

well good luck on the parts hunt. i have a 66 f-100 ive been restoring. the best place for the bed is at salvage yard. some 66's are easy to find certain parts for. and i realy dont think its a 80 something bed because those lines dont even come close to matching. there is a yard here in utah that has about 13 good beds from 65 to 67 that would work. good luck
Good luck with your truck. Just some info, beds 64-66 will fit (not 64-65 4x4) Tailgates from 64 thru 72 will bolt right up. The 67-72 ones are not identical to the 64-66, but only the very well informed can tell the difference! Of course, I have assumed you have a widebed styleside, stepsides are even more interchangeable!
the lines on the bed do not match at all, there is also a gas cap lid on the driver's side of the bed. i'm guessing that it originally had the styleside bed, but i don't think there is any way of telling. also if my memory is correct the warrenty badge on the door said it had a 115 inch wheel base, would this be the short or long wheel base?
thanks,
Eric
Eric, email me (address below) I have a long bed, and am in Durham NC. Must be picked up there if you are interested.

In the cool still quiet of night, you can hear chevies rusting away.
thanks guys, for all your help.
as of right now, i am not exactly sure as to what i am going to do about the bed. My father is going to hepl me out, and he had the idea of using a stepside bed. but i am not sure what i am going to do as of yet. Also, would 115 inch wheelbase be the wide, or the short wheel base??? i wrote all the info off the warrenty badge, i'll get it posted tomorrow, maybe that will help me as well as you guys, as to what exactly the truck is...
Eric, All the 2wd trucks have the same width wheel bases from 65-72. There is different chassis lengths for the short besd and the lond bed. The wide bed and narror bed will fit either truck. One has the fenders incooperated in the bed and the other on the out side.
If this is your truck, I would make sure that you like the fat fender narrow bed before your dad talks you into one, because it is a personal choice. I don't like them and wouldn't own a truck with that bed on it, but a lot of guys do like it. My2

As it turns out the person i bought it off of doesn't have the title, so now i am pretty screwed. i'm just going to have to sell the truck off as a parts truck of something, which is a shame, because it ran beautifully. Oh well, if you know anyone who would be interested, it's a 66 f-100. straight six, four speed. asking $750 located in Massachusetts. You have to come pick it up. my e-mail is fishbatman(No Email Addresses In Posts!) if you have any questions.
Have you looked into getting a new title. You can apply for a new one here in NC. Shoot me a mail to my address below, might be able to help.
