Can I reverse my rear leaf springs for a longer wheelbase?

Can I reverse the rear leafs on my '79 Bronco frame to make it a longer wheelbase? I'm fairly certain they can be physically swapped, but are there any adverse effects with the operation of the spring by having the longer end toward the front of the truck? I plan to flip the rear hangers for a home-brew shackle flip also.

And what length are '79 Bronco rear leafs?

Is the center bolt in the spring centered... most of the time they are already located a few inches back from the center...

Right now the bolt is more toward the front of the truck. It looks like by reversing the springs I will move the axle toward the rear by about approx 7".

no they are located farther forward about 5-7" from the center. Yes you can do that. You will have to get a longer D-shaft if you already have lift.
Some leaves have 5/8" front eye bolt holes and a 9/16" rear or maybe reverse that

Thanks for the info.

It's a '79 Bronco frame that I'm swapping a truck cab and shortened bed on to. It has a 360/C6/205 swapped in already, and the adapter is the short one, whereas the Bronco originally had a long adapter. It's (possibly) getting some used lift springs from a '77 F100 that need new bushings. Another option (that I read about somewhere on ford-trucks.com) that I'm considering is using Chevy rear springs along with 2 sets of the rear spring/front hangers and moving the perches on the axle. I already have all of the Chevy parts needed for the swap. Decisions... decisions...
