? about '89 F250

Found a '89 F250 for sale in my budget. Here's the problem though. The truck has 196 K on it. I was reading another thread which said the 300-6 motor was good for 300K ++ but after 150K-200K they start to go down hill. I'm wondering first of all is this true? And if so what type of problems? Any different then the 302 motors?

I'm also concerned with the 5sp tranny in it. I heard both good and bad about the Ford 5sp and I am not sure which to belive. In this truck it was recently replaced. The truck also has the light axles.

Thanks in advance
