Tranny issue anyone have this happen

I have a 97 F250HD 351 with a E4OD.

I was driving yesterday morning on the Hwy at 65mph truck hit a bump in the road and the tranny shifted into Neutral for a couple of seconds then back into gear. Did it again about 10 minutes later this time for about 10 seconds. Then again once more about 20 minute later but the speed was under 15 when it happened then. I am thinking it is a loose wire or bad VSS more inclined to think the VSS as I have had a flashing OD light in the past but not recently.

It is throwing no codes and the tranny shop is not willing to throw time or money into replacing all the sensors, Which I agree with.

I agree the MLPS is probably the culprit. Think there was a service bulletin about this problem. If you seach the forum for MLPS you will find it is not an uncommon problem.
Good luck Frank

I third that. More likely than not the MLPS.

Our church bus has the E40d transmission. The first trip out after we bought it found the same acting situation after a rough road in Indiana. Come to find out the plug on the side of the transmission was not latched tight. The tranny had been replaced just before we bought it and the electrical plug was only latched on one side. After plugging it in tight we have had no more problems.

Good luck.
