Hm, I would remove just about any part that isn't nailed down on that thing, to include ***** and brackets. There's a ton of parts that are hard to find or worse, expensive.

Hey, for what it's worth, most engines have lots of identifying casting marks, on the block, the heads, intake manifold, transmissions, axels, etc. Some are very noticable marks, like on the 352, there are raised letters 352 on the block on the front of the engine. Get a scraper and a wire brush, and start looking for some identification marks. Write down the number or alpha identification, part number, casting date and any other numbers or series of numbers that you find. List the approximate location of the numbers ie cylinder head rear, blocck lower left near motor mount. Remember that most parts had a casting/part number on them. Post your findings and I'll bet we can come up with a close answer. Casting dates are important to determine when the part was made so as to determine the year of manufacturing.
