I'm looking at an XL F250 4x4, V10 5 speed to use as a work truck. It does not have A/C, can it be added? And for how much?

Go to a local AC repair shop and see if they will install an aftermarket kit.

I'm sure they are available.

If you are going to do the work yourself, it should be pretty straightforward.

Go to a junkyard, find a donor SD, take the condensor, the heater box/evaporator, compressor and mounts, hoses, dryer, and take a picture of the belt routing diagram under the hood

Buy a new dryer, and put it all together.

You probably need the controls for the dash too. Wiring might be a pain, but certainly doable.

I'd leave a weekend or two to do the job myself...

 

I am about to attempt this with my 2000 F250 5.4L. Would you happen to know a good place to search for the dealership install manual for adding A/C as an option? I've been searching all over this forum, no luck yet. Thanks in advance!

 

aftermarket a/c is surprisingly cheap. Obviously these trucks are pretty rare without ac, so I don't know if anybody makes a customized kit to fit the cab, but you don't really need that anyway.
