94-96 MAF on a 93

Can you take a Mass Air Flow sensor off of a 94-96 f150 and put it on a 93? If so what needs to be done to do so and how difficult would the conversion be? Also what would be the benefits of installing the sensor? 1993 F150 5.0.

You'll also need the computer and you'll have to add the MAF wiring to your engine harness, which isn't too hard. There would be no immediate benifits from adding the meter, but you open up the bolt-on performance potential.

About the wiring part. How would I go about integrating the new wiring into the old system. Does it involve cutting and splicing, running a whole new set of wires or is it something I can plug in. Do I need to replace the computer on my truck with a computer off a truck that came with a MAF sensor?

First you need to find the wiring pinout for both computers and compare the differences. If you are lucky there won't be too many. Then you need a pin extraction tool like this.. http://www.crawfordtool.com/amp.html it's the one on the top of the page. The pointed end slides over the wires into the back of the connector where it compresses a couple little tabs that normally keep the pins in place, and then you can push the pins out from the other side with needle nose pliers.
You'll have to trace and remove the MAF wires from the donor vehicle, and install them into your wiring harness. If you are real lucky it'll just be a matter of plugging the 3-4 wires into the right pin locations on your harness. If not you may have to re-arrange some other wires as well.
Another way to do it would be to remove the complete engine harness from the donor vehicle and use it along with the computer.
1 other thing I just thought of. You need to be sure both vehicles have he same transmission, or the computer will throw codes and it probably won't perform too well.

You don't really need a pin extractor tool to get the pins out of the connector. A simple flat-head glasses screwdriver works very well, and you probably have one of those already. Run a search on mass air and see if some of the old threads will come up about the swap you are looking to do. Those threads should help you a lot and get you pointed in the right direction.

you'll also need to address the injectors. The Speed Density is batch (2 sets of 4) and MAF is Sequential (8 independent). Additionally the 96 should be EEC-V not EEC-IV.

I Just put 93 old firing order motor in 94 Maf truck .
So For a Maf set up on your truck you will need Engine harness. Because injectors will each have wire .8 injector wires and one wire that gose to all of them.seq injection Instead of your truck having 2, 1 for 4 injectors. Batch .You will have to switch 4 wires in it to trick computer into thinking its fireing the 94 302 & 351 firing order (which should be different than yours.) Not bad to do little time with multi tester. Remove red strips from harness plus and switch wires once figure out order and how to switch pins no bad.

You will need Ecm from truck that had Maf set up. Take emergency brake down remove screw in engine compartment ,or take fenderwell loose. remove that way.

Now the fun begins You can either Get complete Firewall forward harness And put it all in. (Like a 3 hour job.) And don't know if it would be plug and play. or redo old wire harnes. Think there is 8 differnent wires to add to yours . The ones from Maf and injectors.
1. The 94 up harness plug won't fit your 93 computer. 2. Mas air flow has extra wire going to said computer . use new ecm harness to engine and tie in with your old one. 3. air filter box For Maf set up. trace wires take & your time. good luck.
