Going to look at a 53 f100 (4x4 i don't believe it to be stock )tommorrow.not sure what i'll find, seen the truck a couple years ago sitting ,inquired and found they'll sell.not sure on price either.definately not a driver ,but it seemed to be pretty solid.
that ain't the same one I'm thinking about in WI, is it? My supervisor's bro-in-law has one on a 4x4 chassis, and he said it was for sale now. I seen it a couple years ago, myself. Boy, what a coincidence.
If I remember correctly the truck had coils in the front and 5 lug wheels,so i am guessing 70's f150 4x4 frame. did some searches and it sounds like i will want to swap back to a original frame if the body and bed are worth it.My dad had a 55 when i was a wee lad and i still have pics. he painted it dark brown metallic with wide baby moons,i want to follow the same theme with one.nothing to fancy, daily driver when its not snowing.
Well she's gonna need some work. Thw 4x4 frame under it was a chevy, and the owner wanted to keep it. So i got the body for free!I am gonna need a chassis, have to see what my options are.I do have a 440/727 but i don't think i want that much hp.
Might not be able to find a 53 chassis, but there are at least half a dozen repoppers that you could use. Most of them come IFS and PB with a 9", and there's enough competition between the lot that they're pretty fair priced. That'd get you a solid, trustworthy frame and the most popular upgrades--that is, if you can scrape up enough dough. (They're fair priced, but not cheap!)
