im new to the boards and have been reading up on some things..i had some exhaust work done today and its not as loud as i thought it would be....i had a 12 inch glasspack put on and a 4 inch tip....it sounds very similar to a flowmaster setup...i know it will get a bit louder over time ut how much louder?i had the converters left on(ive read that there is 4 on the truck?is that right?)i dont want an annoying popping but a loud,deep tone...btw my truck is a 2001 f150 flareside with a 4.6....any help will be greatly appreciated...

 

If you want it louder you pretty much have to take the convertors off. The convertors are like a muffler themselves, they hold alot of sound in!

 

IF you only have 1 exit then that is why it is quiet. duals is louder

 

like preppy said its the cats. you can take 2 off and put o2 simulaters on to get some more sound

 

Or just remove your pre-cats and keep your main cats. No mods needed...that's what I run. No CEL either. Two tiny Magnaflows, but really it's too loud passengers in the back of my Expy. I'm probably gonna put a resonator on it or put two larger mufflers on, it's really loud and sets off car alarms even if I'm driving like a granny.
