Hey guys Im looking to get a 2000 f350 with a 7.3 liter diesel, with a automatic. Its a nice truck, loaded except leather, and has a fewer kilomters on it, 230,000. They are asking 19,000 bucks for it. The interior and body are in good shape, and it seems to run really well. Is there anything I should keep an eye out for? What are the auto trannys like in these trucks? What do you guys think of the price? Keep in mind the truck is in canada, B.C. to be exact. I looked at a f250 with a 7.3 liter with a 6 speed and it seemed to have a ton more power then this one. Does that seem normal? Any information is appreciated!
The tranny in the F350 could be going out. Not on an uncommon thing though as you do lose some power due to slipping. The F250 could have recently had the clutch replaced as well.
A good sign as to what problem the F350 might have, check to see if there's signs of a 5th wheel mounting in the back. This will tell you if the previous owner used it for a lot of towing.
Also, remember that the one with the manual could've been modded to produce more power, and the auto being stock would've felt sluggish compared to it.
I do believe both trucks were not modded, they both appeared completely stock, and teh dealers both said they were stock too. The dealer with the 350 said the tranny did get replaced in it not that long ago either, so it has a different tranny then the original. Do you guys think that 230,ooo kilometers is alot for that price though? Lots of life left in it?
