low port location for 2001 F150 4.6 v8 4wd
Hi guys,
I can't find the low port for putting in new AC refrigerant on my 2001 Ford F150 4WD 4.6l v8.
can you tell me where it is? I see the high port right on top. Went to the ford agency and they did not have a CLUE!!!
I bought the kit, with the gauge, the 134a with the dye and the sealant, just in case.
please advise.
Tim
I'd be grateful if you could send it to: kingofny@hotmail.com
thanks a million

ok: facing the engine, I see the top port on the left side with a black cap.
is the low port the one on the right side of the engine (while facing the windshield) with the green cap against the firewall on a small UFO shaped gadget?
does anyone have an URL where I can see a PHOTO of the bugger? Like something out of a chilton's manual or a haynes?
thanks again.

The low pressure port is on the side of the accumulator, or receiver/dryer as it's also called.
It's the black (usually) cylinder looking piece, about a foot long, up against the firewall on the passenger's side of the truck.
The part with the green cap is the Vapor Management Valve. It's part of the emission controls.

Ok dave,
thanks a million. but having read through a gazillion threads, I think I am going to return this stuff and have somebody else do it. Somebody said that if you put in the 134a with the sealant additive, dye and oil , that is can cause fits at a later date.
I don't know how I would add refrigerant to an already low system without there already being some air in there. That would mean moisture, etc. It is really hard to get accurate information other than general stuff from forum boards. So much information is contradictory.
ie future problems with the sealant stuff
moisture in the lines causing probs
134a causing testicular cancer
134a being a controlled chemical/ NOT being a controlled chemical
etc etc
and that is not to mention:
compressors (where the hell is THAT?)
doors, gates, valves, ports, sea monsters, and mushroom clouds...
if anyone has concise info, let me know, otherwise, from experience... when I wing it, it all turns to crap
thanks
