Unhappy body guys HELP!! clear coat flaking off!!!

I noticed it just 2 weeks ago!! The clearcoat around my rear fenderwells is starting to flake off (like a 3 day old krispy kreme donut). Its a 2004 early production new body. Anybody else have this problem??? Any good body guys out there have any ideas?? I keep it clean and this is killing me!!

I haven't run into that problem yet. But on my nb 04 flair-side I've noticed very heavy orange peel in the clear coat over the rear fenders like the factory was running behind during the painting process and just blasted my truck through. Ive been keeping a close eye on mine because it looks bad enough that it might become a problem latter on in the future. Did yours have heavy orange peel in the clear coat when new?

If your clear is peeling there is really only one way to fix it. Lightly sand the area to feather out the area and fade in new clear with a touch-up gun. It is easy to screw this up (especialy if you have metalic paint) so if you don't have paint experience you should take it to a good local shop (not the cheap national chains that offer $299 paint jobs). If your truck is still under warenty take it to the dealer.

Isn't it still covered by Ford? I'd raise hell...

it's over 36k...I'll have to look into that. Just never came across this problem before on any other vehicle especially this new....granted it's 3 years old

My hood did the same thing. Ford dealer gave me a hassle and after a fight I got them to fix it (only had 26k on it then). They did a lousy job, so I took it to a body shop after I crushed the bed with my trailer and they tossed it in the works for free.

Paint is 3yrs/36k only. I was shocked to find it wasn't for 5 yrs.
