Question about c6 longevity??????
How many miles can one expect from a cared-for C6 before it needs major work? I'm putting a C6 into my truck, and I have two trannys to choose from. One is under 100,000 miles, but I know nothing about it or its owner. The second has 170,000 miles, but I know that it is from a vehicle that has been taken care of (a one ton van, lightly used). I'd rather take the second since I know more about it, but that is a lot of miles. Help! Advice?

Well the pryer history matters a little. The question you need to be asking is what are you going to expext the transmission to do? The C-6 transmission is on tough beast, but I was able to tear one up in 13 months and 65000 miles. So if you are going to put the transmission in a truck or van, and plan to work the truck, I would get the one that cost the less and rebuild it. That way you KNOW what kind of condition it is in.
