Frame vin
I saw a post earlier about the vin # being on the frame. If someone had the hood opened should they be able to look down and see that number? I belive it is supossed to be on the passenger side on top of the frame. i just don't ever remember seeing that numer there!!!

It can be anywhere along there.
It would depend on the line guy actually doing the stamping.
Firewall to rad support amd yes a wire brush is needed.
also another aid is using welder's chaulk on the flat and stroke it across the metal to see the characters better.

On my '76 F150 4x4 that I stripped, the VIN was stamped on top of the frame under the passenger floorboard, half way between the front and rear cab mounts. You would need a mirror to see it if the body was still on the frame. I haven't found it yet on my '79 Bronco frame, although I haven't looked for it much either.
