I am in the San Diego County area. Ya the truck is kinda pieced together, the hood came with the truck and is off a different year as well as the grill I have is off of a 63'. I plan on shaving all the emblems off soon anyways. Just gotta work all the other bugs out first and fix some rust then I will start doing what I want to do to it soon.

Add Me!

Put mine on the survivors list.

1961 Unibody short bed, small back window, original 292/3 speed.

Currently stored without engine and tranny. Deciding which way to go. Looking at Crown Vic frame swap/Aerostar front/ MII front/flipped rear/T-bird IRS rear or 4 bar rear. Not sure yet. Probably getting a modular motor.

How about a 1961 Lightening?

There are also 3 others in town. 2 short bed ond one long bed.

Sounds like you got some big plans for your UNI can't wait to see that. I would love to run the ford motorsport cobra motor and six speed! Sometimes I wish mine still had the original 292 and Auto in it to kinda keep that old school look and feel.

I have 2

Interesting idea. I have a '61 Merc, M-100, and a '63 Ford F-100, both unibodies. The '61 is pretty much plain Jane, the '63 however has the large back window with the big chrome, and the rest of the body chrome package. I can supply vins' if req'd for your registry, let me know.

robert, still there?

Robert, still looking for unibodies? I have my dad's 62 F250, 3/4 ton "styleside" unibody. It's in "project phase" -- been parked for about 5 years on dad's farm. It has a 6 cyl, 4 spd manual. it's never been modified except for a short block about 7 yrs ago...obviously it was running then, w/ only a few hundred miles on it since the repairs.
Ford says fewer than 6,000 of these were made.
its for sale cheap...in Eastern WI.
contact me... dmanske

Exclamation 1961 Merc M-100

I have a 61 merc M 100 LWB, 223 6 cyl, 3 sp OD column shift, bought it in 97 from someone that moved here from alberta. unfortunately it was missing the tail gate because they had a camper on it origionally. & yes i am still looking for a UNI merc gate, I have also thought about selling it because i have to many projects and a few need to go. below is my vin info, I hope its interesting.....

#51532A-5661022NL the breakdown is as follows - (51532 unit) # built in dec 60, (A) gvw 0-5000 lbs, (5) 6 cyl merc truck, (66) pickup body, (10) M -100 series, (22) 122" wb, (N) 1961 model year, (L) left hand drive built in oakville, ont.... ford of canada records show that (quote) there were 3257 of the 1961 mercury light trucks built, all in canada.

unibody

I have a 1962 Mercury Unibody shortbox half ton with a 223 six and 4speed, 389 rear gear, small rear window, and I am lucky, still has the tailgate. Wondering how rare the Merc Uni shortboxes are if anyone has numbers on them.

Exclamation hay 77 silverstreak

77 silverstreak - i had got my 1961 info from ford of canada, Oakville. that was in may 2000, the contact was and maybe still is? Sandra Notarianni historical consultant. if i remember right she was only there 1 or 2 days a week. but its a point in the right direction, as for the 61 info i posted - the 3257 total was only for 1/2 ton S&LWB, and 3/4 ton LWB models, there could be a breakdown for swb models but she never mentioned it. this ph # is from apr 2000 give it a try, it went to her office (905) 845-2511 ext 1562. good luck on getting the 62 info.

By the way do you know of any merc uni tail gates????

Thanks for the info mrcman58 I will give the number a try. I don't know of any tailgates for Mercs off hand, but will keep an eye out for some, never know when one will show up.
