Will it fit in my garage?

I'm half kidding here, because I know how to measure my garage dimensions; but I just saw that the width of the Expedition is a whopping 92"!! My goodness, I don't think it would fit into many standard garage's with such a wide profile. I guess I could simply use the power retractable mirrors to shrink this number down to a more manageable 79", but I'm afraid I'll forget to do it and smash right into the damn garage. LOL Do you guys garage your Expy's?

My wife and I had twin boys 8 months ago and I would like to "future proof" our family vehicle by purchasing something large and with a good tow rating. The Expy is my first choice, but the dimensions are tough for me to deal with.

Go get one to take for a test drive and bring it home and see how it fits.

Not sure what you are referencing for width--anything over 80 inches requires clearance lights by federal law. Mirrors dont count. At 92", that is 4" less than 8 feet--most garage doors are 10' or more. My '03 is same width as '07 and fits in just fine. The Navigators have retractable mirrors.

Width

The Ford website lists the Expy's width (incl. mirrors) at 91.8" wide. Is this not accurate?

I looked at a new '07 Expo last week...it has extendable tow mirrors...the XL version is huge, and is too long for my garage..which can accept a vehicle at 228" max.

I own the XL 2007 Expy Limited and park it in my standard 7 foot garage door every night.

Good thing it has folding mirrors. It's the same width as my 2004 Expy was. I had to manually fold the drivers mirror in on that one.

It should be no problem.

Hey Bob,

Thanks for the reply. It's not me I'm worried about, it's my wife. Do the mirrors retract fairly quickly, and is this something that's going to be easy for her to do every day?

A flick of the mirror adjust switch in the right direction, towards you when sitting in it, and 4 seconds later it's done.

Another flick in the same direction and they open just as fast.

No biggie at all.

I love it.

Numberdummy,

You said that the expy that you looked at last week had extendable towing mirrors. Were they actually telescoping or are you talking about the fold in feature? I was told that telescoping mirrors are not available. Could it have have been a dealer add on?

It just fits under the door, with about 1.5" to spare. plenty of room LOL!!!

standard 7' high door w/2" concrete riser at the entrance
width is not a problem since the garage is made for two vehicles.

Where you get that info? My uncle hangs garage doors and the ONLY ones wider than 8' are either two car garages or special order. If its a one car garage or a two car(or more) garage with independant doors they are 8' wide and 7' tall.

Is this feature on all of them or just the Limited?

I believe just the Limited.

I didn't see it listed under the Eddie Bauer.
