Me and a friend are looking at getting a 93 ranger from a junk yard. They only want 3495. needs a new clutch and i think we'll take the body off sand blast the frame and paint it. it's not in too bad of shape. a couple of dings and stuff. it gonna be and offroad vehical. it got 33's and a 2 inch suspension lift, roll bar and brush gaurd. off road lamps(x4) and a five speed manual, manual hubs. think this is a reasonable buy for a nice little mudder. it's also got 167,000 miles.
Allen, "buddy", thats way to much for a junkyard truck that needs repaired to boot, not to mention the high mileage. Just guessing, sight unseen, try more like 1,200.00 at best. I understand that there are some desirable options it has, like manual trans, and hubs, but you can get good rangers off of auto trader for less than that, and thay don't need repaired. I think this guy maybe trying to handle you because of your age. Make him an offer, and walk away leaving him your phone number, if he calls fine, if not, keep looking.
With the exception of the clutch, exerything thing on the truck is in good shape. it will pass inspection and emmisions, has new tires. the only reason it's at a junkyard is because it's the owners old truck. most of the thing on it (roll bar brush gaurd) he took out of his yard. i took it to kbb. they say the price is reasonable. it's not a beaten down truck. it's still got atleast another 75,000 miles before any serious work needs to be done.
BAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH dang you Alan. I saw a post titled Ju 93 and all I could think was you found a Junkers airplane in a boneyard.
Can you get some pictures? I agree the high mileage is a bit of a problem, however the truck seems to be in fairly good shape and loaded in terms of off-road options.
If the tires are in good shape and you can get it to run, I'd be willing to toss over 3K for it.
That was the idea but instead of a Ju 88 it's was a 93. wow. freaky you thought the same thing i did. boy i wish i found one of those.
Anyway it's in really good condidtion. i'ld put pictures up but i cant even do it on photobucket. just freezes up the old computer. but i'll try. how do i put a picture in a thread, i mmight pull that off.
But just for comparasion, I paid 3,650 for my truck. It is a 2001 with 119k (at the time of purchase) 5 speed manual with the 2.3l. Reg cab and reg bed. Its a beat up little work truck with no power anything and leather seats.
I just think ur getting a rotten deal. I mean I paid 3,650 for a 5 year old truck and you are paying a little less for a 13 year old truck. AND if it needs a new clutch I would lower the price even more.
3.0L, 3.55 5 speed, reg cab, short bed, warn hubs, 4wd, good exertior good interior. crank windows, manual locks. sliding window. yea, we'll talk him down. just wanted to see if there where any warnings, i dont have my heart set on it, it's was just an idea, but it would be fun. i'm also looking at getting a jeep Cherokee for 150
I'm sorry Allen, I thought it was a junked truck, still, you need to offer lower. The clutch issue alone should knock off 1,000 bucks. It's a 2,500 truck, if in as good of shape as you say, does it have a 4.0 ? Whats good about the jeep, is they have a soild front axle, easy to lift, and the jeep 4.0 is an excellent motor, good lowend, good hp, and they last forever. Bad thing, is that thier unibody, but thats really not much of an issue, just make sure the doors shut properly, you go girl !!! ha ha
The ford ranger is down to $2570 (dont ask about the $70). i took it to a local shop, and had it looked over.the clutch doesn't need replacing, it just needs to be adjusted.
It's got:
3.0L
3.55
4 inch lift
2 inch body lift
35 inch Superswampers (almost new)
GPS (i dont need that, i dont get lost)
and has a spare 5 gal fuel tank with an emergency kit.
Jeep Cherokee:
Wont pass inspection
doesn't run
fuel tank leaks
everything stock
1988 I6 Auto
I know why it doesn't run, the coil is bad. it stopped running in the middle of a run, and they towed it out, but never cleaned it. i figure i can get 150 back if i take it to a yard.
Well, lets put the cherokee in context. it was bought and used as a mudder for the last 2 yrs. it wasn't mantained. It doesn't have a panel without abround 15 or 16 good indgs. the window is cracked, but glued with epoxy. getting the idea.
