The original radio in the truck would not turn off with the switch so I left it on while driving for the past two years. Finally, the radio just made a high pitched hum so I figured it was shot. I got a replacement radio and installed same. The same high pitch hum with no sound. Any suggestions about the possible problem and/or trouble shooting tips. Any help would be appreciated. Tom Davis
i'll have to guess at this one but since this happens on both radios, i'll say
one of your speakers are bad.
when it works next time, listen if you can hear which one sounds worst
and start there.
luck STE
well the first thing you need to do, is replace that cruddy factory stereo with a halfway decent one unless you happen to have a 6 disc changer. Take off your door panels and make sure that your plugs to the speakers are not rusty or corroded. Make sure none of the shielding on the wires is grouding out to the doors. If that doesn't work, then check the wiring behind the radio and see if there is anything going on back there
i thought of someting else i've seen a couple times.
was there rust on your antenna lead?
i have seen water come thru antenna and leak water into radio.
may cause same problem.
check for rust at bottom of radio inside also.
good luck ste
rusty antenna will leak water and kill new radio too.
