Swapping Lincoln Versailles rear into '63 Unibody, got ??

I'm leaning toward the ECI kit to convert my drums to discs on the front. As for the rears, I'm one of the lucky guys that has a Lincoln Versailles rear end laying around. I haven't measured anything yet (overall width, bolt pattern, etc.) and was wondering if anyone has performed this installation?

If so, what parts am I going to need? Has anyone posted a procedure for the swap on the web?

If I go with the ECI kit and the Lincoln rear, what other miscellaneous parts will I need? What type of master cylinder, etc.?

Oh yea, and how do you spell "Versailles" anyway?

:-( You might want to check on brake parts for that Versallieses rear end. If my memory is ??? oh well I think HotRod ran a disc brake article once and recommended skipping those because of part unavailibility or something.

I put one of those rears in a mustangII. What a mess. To have the brakes actually work depends on the how you have the park brake hooked up.AND calipers and P-brake parts were made of unobtainium. I tossed the whole works. That was 1989,maybe the hotrod aftermarket has a souloution by now.

Rob,

I'd be willing to bet, that the bolt pattern on the Lincoln rear end is a 5x4.25 or 5x4.5, with which you'll have to change your rear wheels.

I'm personally going to look into the kit from Stainless Steel Brakes, for the 9 inch in the Ford Pickups.

I believe the kits run somewhere near $500 or so.

I'll do some checking & get back with you.

Kyle
