It's only the half ton model.. the 3 quarter and 1 tons will be alittle different according to Chevrolet.. These trucks will be out just before the new year. The heavy duty trucks won't be out until spring of '07..
I like the front end on the GMC a heck of a lot better than the Chevy.
Also, the GMC doesn't have the HUGE fender flares like the Chevy. I think this gives the GMC a better look, instead of resembling a larger Colorado.
I still dislike the Roof Rack and the off-center On-Star antenna.
It looks like the rear windows in the GMC roll down like the new F-150's.
The dash board looks better than most the previous generations, but still not the as good of quality and styling as the F-150. The cloth seats still look cheap though.
The frame under the '01 to '06 Chevy HD's is not an issue. The depth of the rails on our new '06 2500 HD is actually deeper that our '02 F-550. And most of it's boxed, too. Hard to criticize the Corporate 10.5 and 11.5 rear axles, too.
I'll admit the GMC does look better from the front and looks to have less pronounced fender flares. Maybe it's just the angle of the picture, wait the side picture reveals the flares a lot more. I like the home page version, as it doesn't have the roof rack. It still has that off center on star antenna though, which I completely dislike. The bed and cab next to each other still looks a little awkward.
Now looking at it from a couple angles, the hood, headlights and grill together kind of look like the SuperDuties. Actually it looks like it took a lot of it's front end style from the SD's.
Wow, their going to offer the 6.0L V8 estimated to make 367HP and 375Lb-FT TQ. It has a fully boxed frame and wider track and an Auto locking rear diff.
Not my cup of tea, but the GMC does look a lot better than the Chevy.
What kind off mileage will these things get. Thats the question. I am afraid the heyday off the pickup trucks is over especially for the city crowd. A lot off them are going back to cars. $3.00 gas doesnt bode well for truck sales.
Well, the 6.0L may not get the best gas mileage but it still might be compareable to the 5.4 or at worst the 6.8L V10 Ford offers. Of course for the 1500 model, you'll most likely see the 5.3L the majority of the time. Which in most tests I've seen, the 5.3L does get better mpg than the 5.4L. Sure not much better, but it does get better mileage.
