no go in drive
Hello All,
I have an 94 Aero w/ 156K with a new motor put in at about 68k 3.0L extended body.I have owned it about 4 months put on about 2.5k miles. I have only changed the oil since I bought it,runs great.In the last week or so a few times after letting warm up a few minutes and backing out the driveway and put in in drive it just revs like being in park or neutral.It does it in reverse and all the forward gears.After about 30 seconds of moving the shifter from park to drive it finally engages.This morning it did it twice the second time when I came to the first stop sign, just revved when trying to go thru.The tranny fluid level is right up where it should be but I don't know when last changed.I will change it this week.Are there any other answers as to what might cause this.The temp here has been very hot the last month mid 90's. Don't know if that would matter.The van seems to shift smooth once your driving, but like I said it only does it the first time you put it drive and and after that it is fine. I just hope it nothing major.Look forward to your replys.

first pull off rubber/neoprene tube on vacuum modulator on passenger side middle of auto tranny...check for any ATF dripping out vac. mod. or tube...if ATF leak=change vac. mod.
AT fluid should be a translucent pink color with no brown or dark coloring, no particles. odor should be almost nonexistant. no burnt odor. ATF should feel slick and smooth rub test between fingers...
if ATF does not meet above tests, do a gentle 10 qt flush with filter change....

I replace spark plugs if I feel that engine runs roughtly on accleration ore idle, but there is one old way to make plug run again well. Remove them and put on gas-furnace and leave for a half of hour.... Dont forget to swich vent. on in your kitchen.... smells like burning rubber!
