I have a bell housing that I baught some time ago that I hoped would marry a T-98 to a 390. I know there is some question as to if this is possible and I get equal votes from both sides of the controversy. So for right now, I would like to find out exactly what I do have. The most positive thing I have is the casting number of C4TA-7505-D. I made a template of my 390 block to take with me looking. I also had the measurments of the T-98 bolt pattern. Both seem to match perfectly. From what I can tell, the depth is the same as the 292-T98 bell housing. It also has the mounting ears. The clutch fork is much heavier duty than most I have seen suggesting that it came from a heavier duty truck.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure that is the correct part number? If the number is C4TZ-7505-D I can give you some info by part number. That bellhousing was used on B-C-F-N-and T series trucks size 500-800 with a 330 or 361 from 1964-1969 to use with the following transmissions;5 speed Clark 250,260 and 280 and also New process 541 series. It was also used with the Warner T19 and New process 435 and 542 series in some heavier trucks up until 1970.Hope this helps.
The bell housing should work with the T98. I have the same trans in my 63 half ton. It had a 292 with the T98. Now I have that trans bolted up with a 361 from a F700.

Went out with a flashlight and verified that it definitely is C4TA, not Z.
But thanks for your help anyway.

WOW! This is great news! Let me ask afew more questions if you don't mind. Does my number match the one on your bell housing? What year was F-700? What kind of motor mounts are you using? Some have indicated that this swap is a royal pain if not impossible, what is your take on it?
Thanks for renwing my hopes,

The F700 was a 1971. The truck used the same motor mounts as the stock 292 had. A single mount off the front and the two on the bell housing. I don't know the part number for my bell hosing right now. I will know what it is tomarow. There is some work involved in making the clucth linkge work. We had to put a spacer under the rod mount on the frame so that it would line up on the motor.

Thanks so much, John. That is exactly what I wanted to hear. I have a 390 and just recently purchased a 428 crank and flywheel. You don't happen to remember the cluth setup you used, do you?
