Doors

Is there any way to tighten up the latch on my doors of my 97 4x4 extended cab so my doors don't rattle? I read in the faq and found the switch in the doors for the door ajar light but not this issue.
Thanks

The "rear" doors on my supercab don't always close properly and this causes some noise while driving. Visually you can't tell the door is not closed properly but if you pull on the rear door there will be a little play in it when it's not secured. I just make sure I close them firmly. One way to tell if this is/has happened is to look at the very tip at the top of the rear door where it meets the front door. If there is a little paint missing from that tip it's probably due to the door not being secured properly.

Other than that I might suggest taking the door panel off and driving around to see if you can pin point a rattle inside the door.

I have the same problem, sometimes the door ajar light comes on because of the passenger side door isn't shut tight because of the 3rd door not being closed hard enough. I just make sure I close it firmly as well.

well my truck has 200k miles on it and i bought it used at 168. it appeared that it had been "brushed" against some trees or brush in the woods at one point as the bottom of the 3rd door where it meets the front door sticks out a tiny bit. it seems to close securley though and i know for a fact is still water tight (I recently got very very stuck and the passenger side was slighty submerged. but the doors rattle on the drivers and passengers side... I KNOW!!! I will weld and go nascar style!!!
