Propane Injection?

As usual I opened my mouth without thinking. I did a Yahoo search for propane injection and found a price and some info on 1 brand of propane injection. Has anyone installed one of these systems and used it for a while? What do you think of it? The specs make it seem like any other performance parts are a waste of time. Are there multiple brands available? Are they all around $550?

Propane Injection?

Yeah, that is the only one I could find any info on. I just don't know how the install is and if people are happy with it. I like the idea of being able to switch it on and off. I was thinking about getting a chip, but I tow occasionally, and after the price of the chip AND an exhaust upgrade, the propane seems to make more sense.

Propane Injection?

I had some of the same questions about a year or so ago, also I was wondering if it damages the engine, or shortens the engine life. I got some info from www.ford-diesel.com, but not as much info as I wanted. I have not installed one yet, still considering it. Seems like that web site had an article or something from someone that had installed a kit and said it wasn't too hard.

Propane Injection?

The propane kit enrichens the fuel air mixture to provide more power in two ways: the first is simply the more fuel in a diesel engine, the more power will be produced. The second is the propane acts as a catalyst for the diesel fuel injected into the cylinders, making it burn more completely. So not only are you adding fuel to the cylinders, you're also getting more power from the fuel already in the cylinders. The only down side is having to install a tank to store the propane--you'll lose room in the bed. ATF=automatic transmission fluid. Enhancing/increaseing the power of the engine may result in higher transmission temperatures due to heat transfering from the engine and possibly slippag

This propane information is being brought to you by a friend of a friend.

Propane Injection?

I looked into installing a system on my 95 f-250 and talked to a dealer who had one on his truck for about a year. He said that he was hauling considerable loads and that the system worked great to add power and performance but that he had removed the system because the space that the tank took and that he had problems every time he went to have the tank filled. He said that the performace gain was about the same as adding a 60 hp chip and guages and that the chip provided the power on demand any time and he did not have to screw with the propane tank.

have one in a 04 dodge 3500/ 400 tho miles / I just drove the truck for about 10 tho miles, didn't seem to increase power, takes up half the bed, the truck did have
390tho when I drove it / might have been better with fewer miles. good luck. Hard to find propane but injects 20% per 100 so you don't need to refuel quite as often.
