Well I got my 89 f150 in to have a look at my loose steering...no point in adjusting the steering gear, apparently there are crack at that location on the frame....

Is this a pricey item to fix for an '89 - do fixes work? Might as well find out before a frame shop takes me for a ride...

probably could weld in metal to re-inforce frame. i wouldn't let it go. I'm sure it would be a scary situation driving and having the box rip off frame.

 

I am sure this is not fatal. Either a repair patch could be welded or a piece of metal bolted on the frame using the mounting bolts for the steering box to hold it in place and weld or bolt the rest of it to the existing frame.Frame shop should be able to determine whats best.
