Question Any Distributor work with '98 Ranger FF V6?

Have a friend that gave me a Flexfuel V6 and 5 speed from a 98 Ranger... I was looking at it and thought that it would make a possible swapout engine and trans for my 71 MG... I can make an intake, but this engine does not have a traditional distributor and I don't have the computer and wiring...

Has anyone got experience or knowledge of what Ford distributor might work with this engine, if I carburator it..

Question

Mitch,

This link may help ya figure out wether or not its worth the "trouble" of doing the conversion. http://www.dainst.com/info/edis/edis.html If I remember correctly, this article was addressed for an older EDIS system. But it should give you a fair idea of what you may have to accomplish to make it work.

Hmmm. Sounds good.. Since the engine I have is a 98 V6 Flex fuel, will it be equipped with an EDIS system?

Where is the EDIS module located?

I think you alread found the "non" traditional Distr.- Its commonly reffered to as the Coil Pack (part of the EDIS)...the rest of it is going to be "internal"or missing.

The rest (EDIS Module) maybe missing since it seems you don't have any of the other Electronics. Look for that Coil Pack (rectangle in shape-grey and black is usually the color w/ 6 round port facing vertical) chase the Wire/harness (if it exists)... See if it actually leads anywhere then we'll go from there.

...After thinkin about it somemore I remebered hearing of people doing something similar but instead with the Ford V-8s....

I have a link as an ex. ...http://picasso.org/mjlj/?q=node/2 (If it shows...)
