fun vs mileage
im building 2 vehicles, both dedicated propane. one is purely a toy- a 1978 ford f250 4x4 getting a 460 stroked to 545, the other i intend for a work car- a pinto hatchback with a h.o. 302 from a 86 mustang gt optimized for propane. i know my truck will probably get 8-10 mpg but im hoping i can get 18-20 mpg in town out of the pinto. my original intent was to get a pinto with a 1.6 or 2.0 german designed engine and optimize for propane... but those engines are hard to come by/find parts for... and i already have 2 302s to rebuild and put in something so along came the pinto idea- free good body from my uncle with no drive trane/interior. both will be alot of fun. i could also spend 2500 on a geo metro- not fun... what do you consider more important? fun or mileage?

Depends on how much you drive. I know several people with 100+ miles of daily commute, and most of those have smaller cars. When I bought my 95 Bronco, my work place was 7.5 mile from my home (also had a direct busline there) so I reasoned that even if gasoline prices would go up, that wouldn't effect me much.
