Sand it well, prime it and add flex to paint and it will do well. Consider painting it body color. Did it years ago on a Isuzu and it held up for years using high quality paint.
I juse painted my Ranger's grille. I imagine it looked great new but was pretty worn out. I used some of that high temperature grille paint, turned out quite glossy, didn't take long, wasn't difficult, turned out great, and my painting skills aren't the best.
I also painted the grille on my Ranger. I washed it really good (with Mr. Clean, in the bath tub) rubbed it down with paint thinner, and sprayed it satin black with Krylon Fusion (paint specifically for plastic). It turned out great, really looks professional!
I did mine a while back the same as body color and it made a huge difference. I just got a can of color matched paint roughed it up a bit and sprayed. If memory serves me the paint shop said the primer, sealer, and paint were all in the same can. I put about 2-3 coats and a couple years later it still looks awesome but it does have a few rock chips. I still get compliments all the time. Remember the better the prep the better it will look. It is a great weekend job. You will love it. I am happy with the $15 or so it cost to do it....
